Cat Force Game is a free-to-play match-three puzzle video game developed by Room 8 Studios and published by Playtika for iOS & Android.[1] The game launched on August 15th, 2019 for iOS and September 3rd, 2019 for Android.[2]

In the game, users command the "Cat Force", a battalion of cats who are fighting the dark cat army to save the land of Catopia. Players complete levels by swapping different cat characters to make a match of three or more of the same cat color, which initiates an attack towards obstacles and enemy units. Cat Force combines match-3 and RPG elements, including enemy units on the board to create a unique combat mechanic. The game boards have various goals such as eliminating enemies, saving imprisoned cats, or escorting scout units. Levels have to be completed in a set number of moves, which determine your overall score.[3]

Story

Cat Force takes place in the medieval land of Catopia. The protagonists of the story and main members of the Cat Force are the six cat heroes which you match to create attacks. As new mechanics and enemies are introduced, players are guided by the "Wise Cat", who is the mentor for the Cat Force. The Wise Cat plays a critical part in educating players about the game and assisting the Cat Force with their mission to save Catopia from darkness.

Gameplay

Cat Force is a "match three" game, where the core of the gameplay is based on swapping two adjacent cat units to make a row or column of at least 3 matching-colored cats. After the match, the matched units of cats attack the enemy cat units or obstacles on the board, dealing damage based on their level. This process can also create new matched sets of cats, which automatically attack enemies. Matches of four or more create a special cat attack, where an extra cat unit is summoned to attack. Players score points for these matches and for chain reactions. In addition, creating matches with four or more cats fills up a color vial potion, which when filled grants a special attack for all cat units on board for a selected color. The game has many levels, which must be completed in sequence. When the player starts their journey, the land of Catopia is covered in darkness with buildings destroyed across the map. As the player completes levels, they rebuild the buildings and light shines back on the Catopia landscape. Each level poses a different challenge, some need players to clear obstacles & enemies with a fixed number of moves while others require imprisoned cats to be freed or scout cats to be escorted to the top of the level. If the player meets the level's goal, they are given one to three cat stars based on their score and can proceed to the next level. Completed levels can be replayed if desired, to get more cat stars which can be used to upgrade the cat units. Every chapter ends with a boss level, where a large cat boss with unique powers has to be defeated to move to the next land.
