Barrackpore, also spelled Barrackpur, city, southeastern West Bengal state, northeastern India. It lies just east of the Hugli (Hooghly) River and is part of the Kolkata (Calcutta) urban agglomeration, lying 15 miles (24 km) north of Kolkata.
