Catherine Ball

Dr. Catherine Ball is a businesswoman with a focus on environmental science and technology. Ball is currently operating a number of start-up companies.[1][dead link] She has worked with drone technology: Ball and her team operated a drone that could fly hundreds of kilometers. They flew it off the west coast of Australia to study and track turtle habitats. During this 'voyage' they found endangered animals that had not been seen for years.[2] She was named the 2015 Telestra Queensland Business Woman of the Year award for this. Ball identifies as a representative of women in STEM.[3][better source needed]


Ball was born in UK, England, however considers herself an Aussie-at-heart, due to the 'amount of work' she has done in Australia.[4]


Catherine Ball attended Higham Lane School, King Edward VI College, Stourbridge and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.[5][dead link][6][better source needed] She completed a Ph.D in Ecology and Statistics at the same university in 2008.[7][better source needed]


Ball was recognized with the 2015 Telstra Queensland Business Woman of the Year award.[8] She was also on the Q Magazine's "2015 Queensland 50 Best and Bright" list. She was one of the Australian Financial Review BOSS Magazine's six "2015 Young Executives of the Year."[9][10]
