Catrin Hedström (born July 29, 1986) is a Swedish editor, filmmaker and photographer. Among her editing credits are Little Woods (2019), Sharp Stick (2021), and Candyman (2021).

Early life and education[edit]

Catrin Hedström was born in 1986 in Borås and raised in Landvetter, just east of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her parents, Rolf and Kerstin, worked in the insurance business and she has two older brothers. She enrolled in an IT and Media Program at the Hulebäcksgymnasiet for her high school education. In 2006 she moved to Santa Barbara, California to study film production at Santa Barbara City College. She enrolled at New York University Tisch School of the Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in film and television production. [1]

Career[edit]

She was nominated for the Grand Jury prize for best narrative short at the 2014 Slamdance Film Festival for her film Pink and Baby Blue (2014).[2] She is a frequent collaborator of director Nia DaCosta, having edited the DaCosta-directed feature films Little Woods (2019) and Candyman (2021), as well as two episodes of the Netflix series Top Boy.[3] In 2021 she got the nod from filmmaker Lena Dunham to edit Dunham's Sharp Stick (2021). [4] She is currently again working with DaCosta as an editor on the production of the upcoming Marvel Studios film The Marvels, the sequel to Captain Marvel (2019). [5]
