CaveWhere is cave surveying software that is free and open-source, licensed under the GNU GPL. CaveWhere focuses on quickly generating working 3D cave maps, using a process called Carpeting [1][2]. Carpeting is a process where cave survey sketches are scanned and georeferenced. Once georeferenced, CaveWhere's carpeting process morphs the sketches in 3D, including plan and profile sketches[1]. It supports data entry tool for entering cave survey data[1]. To process this data, CaveWhere uses survex to calculate geographic coordinates from survey stations using a least-squares minimization[3]. Using Qt, c++, and QML, CaveWhere is portable across operating systems and users can run it on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. CaveWhere is intuitive and powerful cave mapping software that can produce cave maps in 3D.
