WIN-911 Software is an alarm notification company that produces a software platform, called WIN-911, for monitoring abnormal or problem conditions in machinery used in public infrastructure and manufacturing.[1][2][3] The company is headquartered in Austin, Texas, USA.[2]

History[edit]

The company WIN-911 Software was founded in 1974[4] by Bill Rose[5] as ‘Specter Instruments’ (www.specterinstruments.com),[6][7][8] which was then renamed to WIN-911 Software in 2013.[9] They began the company by manufacturing alarming hardware devices for automated industry. [4]

In 2014, the company WIN-911 Software formed an alliance with Micromedia International[10], in an agreement where each company acquired a stake in the other company, and opened a European office in 2014.[10][11]

WIN-911 Software formed partnerships with Schneider Electric[12], General Electric (GE)[13] and Rockwell Automation[3]. WIN-911 Software works[3][4] by notifying the concerned person about problem conditions in the system.[14][15]

Software[edit]

In 1993, WIN-911 Software company (formerly ‘Specter Instruments’) launched the software WIN-911 as the real time remote alarm notification product offering email, SMS, and telephony notification of alarms and events.[6] The software WIN-911 works with SCADA, DCS, and other systems to monitor operations and notify the problem conditions.[16][2] WIN-911 is built to send the alarms to the appropriate person.
