The Cavoodle which is also known as a Cavapoo is one of the most popular crossbreed dogs in Australia..[1][2]. Cavoodles are created by crossing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle (toy or miniature). The first popular reference to a Cavoodle was Reuben, a dog belonging to Julia Gillard the former Prime Minister of Australia[3][4]
Cavoodles have been in the media spotlight on a number of occasions in relation to thefts, tenant tribunals[5], impalement injuries at K-Mart [6] and even custody battles[7]. In the latter part of 2020, a fraudulent website was reported to have started offering the cross breeds for a discount just outside Braidwood. The scam was foiled when a local vet Surgery received several calls from people calling to check whether the breeder was legitimate[8]
