Catherine Caylee Cowan (born March 19, 1998)[2] is an American actress and producer. She is best known for her roles in Sunrise in Heaven (2019), Willy's Wonderland (2021), Spinning Gold (2022), and Frank and Penelope (2022).

Early life[edit]

Catherine Caylee Cowan was born on March 19, 1998, in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles.[3] Her passion for acting came from reading books, and she said, "that was part of the reason why I was interested in becoming an actor—I wanted to tell these stories."[4] She grew up in Arizona and participated in theater at the Arizona Actors Academy and at the Valley Youth Theatre.[5][6] She comes mostly from a theater background. Among her theater performances are parts in three of the most famous plays ever written, "Three Sisters" by Anton Chekhov, "The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams, and "Danny in The Deep Blue Sea" by John Patrick Shanley.[7]

Career[edit]

Caylee made her film debut with a leading role in the American romance drama Sunrise in Heaven (2019) as Jan Hurst, and had her breakthrough role in the independent romantic thriller Frank and Penelope (2022)[8] as Penelope, "as a doe-eyed femme fatale".[9] In reviews it was said that, "Caylee Cowan shows such a calming hopeless romantic tone through every scene she is in."[10] She played the supporting role of Kathy Barnes in the action comedy horror Willy's Wonderland (2021)[11][12] and a supporting role as Farrah Lee in the biographical musical drama, Spinning Gold (2022). The Hollywood Reporter spoke with the actress at the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc during a the Cannes Film Festival[13][14] launch party celebrating its latest release, 'Frank and Penelope' after the movies international premiere of Riviera International Film Festival in Sestri Levante, Italy. [15]

Caylee plays the character Christian Christmas in the upcoming movie Holiday Twist[16], directed by Stephanie Garvin[17] which is expected to be release in November of 2022.[18][19]

Personal life[edit]

Caylee is a trained in mixed martial arts including Karate, Taekwondo, Shotokan, and Krav Maga. [20]

Cowan is in a relationship with actor Casey Affleck since January 2021.[21][22][23][24]
