Cemalettin Taşkıran was born in 1954 in Karaman, a small city in Turkey. He is a Turkish historian and a leading figure in the Turkish Nationalist Movement.
Early life and education[edit]
After graduation from Gazi University, he started his work on studies of Ottoman war prisoners in World War I. As a military historian at the Bursa Işıklar Military Academy, he published several academic essays. After, he started his new duty in the TCDD. Taşkıran is currently working as an academic for Gazi University since 2011.

Taşkıran was married to Nilufer Taşkıran.
