The Constable of Center Township, located in Marion County, Indianapolis, Indiana, is a locally elected law enforcement official, with an elected term of four years, whose jurisdiction, duties, and responsibilities focus on the local Small Claims Court of Center Township.

Elections[edit]

The current incumbent Center Township Constable is Lance Stephens.[1], elected by a special caucus election of the Marion County Democratic Party after the death[2] of former longtime incumbent Mark "Tony" Duncan.

On May 3, 2022, incumbent Constable Lance Stephens lost[3] , likely in part due to his widely publicized legal DUI problems[4] to challenger and local progressive political activist[5] Denise Paul Hatch, who will proceed likely unchallenged to the general election on November 8, 2022, set to become the next Center Township Constable, and first ever female, naturalized immigrant, and Buddhist to hold the office of township constable in the history of the state of Indiana.
