Centili, an international mobile payments company operating in the direct carrier billing and digital monetisation space.[1][2]

Products and services[edit]

Centili operates an in-house developed payments platform connected to 280 mobile network operators.[1][2]The platform applies consumers' digital purchases such as in-game items and app subscriptions to their plans with telecom operators and digital wallets.[1] In August 2020 it launched a digital services bundling solution, called Centili Fusion.[3] The product enables the adding of app subscriptions and digital items to standard telco packages; consumers pay for such bundles with their prepaid or postpaid mobile plans.[4] The company integrates digital services onto the MNO billing, and facilitates commercial, financial, and legal relationships between the carriers and companies that use carrier billing.[5] Since 2013, it has been operating ¥Coins virtual currency in partnership with the Japanese conglomerate Softbank.[6] The company has group-level agreements with MNO conglomerates, including Orange and Deutsche Telekom.[7] In February 2020, it enabled the use of PLAY subscriptions as means of paying for rides hailed on iTaxi, which operates vehicles across Poland.[8]

History and operations[edit]

The company was started in 2011 as the carrier billing arm of the messaging company Infobip, from which it later spun off.[1] As of 2021, it has offices and employees in Belgrade (Serbia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Shenzhen (China), Delaware (USA), Munich (Germany), Bangkok (Thailand), Madrid (Spain) and elsewhere.[2] It is structured as a group of business entities, with the holding company registered in London, UK. Centili provides payments services for the gaming studio Wargaming, the global dating service Badoo, the language learning app Busuu,[9] Nigerian 21st Century Technologies,[10] Boomplay Music [11] et al.

In 2017, the company was chosen as the Best Carrier Billing Vendor by a panel of independent industry judges at the Global Carrier Billing Awards in London, UK.[12] In 2019, it was ranked in carrier billing vendors' first tier, based on an independent survey which received responses from 214 mobile network operators.[13] Providing the early stage funding and some of its corporate structures to grow Centili in the early years, Infobip started with spin-off preparations in 2017. The process was concluded in 2020. In March 2020, the telco executive Zoran Vasiljev was appointed Group CEO.[1][14]
