Coaching, up until recently was a non-regulated industry with a number of privately set up trade bodies offering their own various and varied levels of accreditation and membership. In the UK, the only[citation needed] officially recognised accreditation bodies are the International Institute of Coaching and Mentoring (IIC&M) and the Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM). However, recently a new organisation, the International Regulator for Coaching and Mentoring (IRCM) has appeared[clarification needed], a community interest company (CIC) approved by the United Kingdom government and also approved by the European commission and a division of United Nations.[1]
