Ceydy Joseline Lazo is a scientist and conservationist from Belize. She was awarded the Women in Conservation in 2022 for her efforts on conservation of the terrestrial ecosystems along the Belizean forest, in particular south forest of Belize.

She is the founder of the Belize Federation of Scientists and the Belize Environmental Society, and she has worked extensively on conservation and animal welfare issues. As of 2019, she was the founder and president on the board of the Women in STEM Belize.[6] Lazo is an honorary member of the American Society of Microbiology.

Biography[edit]

Ceydy Lazo was born in Belize and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Belize[1] as a biologist and Conservationist. Due to her work in conservation, she was granted a postgraduate Fellowship position University of Florida working in scientific research on the Analysis of ZHX2 Target Genes CYP2a4 AND CYP2A5 in Mouse Liver and the Evolution of the ZHX Transcriptional Factor Family. In 2018 she began working as a volunteer for the Belize Audubon Society.
