The Sabres de Châteauroux are an american football club based in Châteauroux, Indre, France.[1] They were founded in 2015 by Floyd Segura, a former Ours de Toulouse player who resettled in Châteauroux. They replace the Châteauroux Orcs, the city's previous club,[1] active between 1987 and 2011 and winner of the 2000 French Junior Championship.[2]
The organization's name is a throwback to the Sabres, an American military team based at the old Châteauroux-Déols Air Base, which played in USAFE-sanctioned leagues during the 1950s and 1960s.[1][2]
