Chaka Fattah Jr. (born November 29, 1982) is an American business executive. He is President of 259 Strategies, LLC, a management consulting firm. In September 2007, he was named one of the Young Entrepreneurs of Rittenhouse Square by Rittenhouse magazine.[1][not in citation given] In November 2008, Fattah was featured as a business vanguard in Philadelphia Style magazine.[2] He is known for filing a lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service following an investigation into alleged failure to pay taxes. The lawsuit initially claimed one million dollars in damages to his personal and professional reputation.[3]

Chaka Fattah Jr. was born on November 29, 1982 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[citation needed] He grew up in West Philadelphia in the Overbrook section.[citation needed] He is the son of U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah[1][2][4] and Michelle R. Fattah. His parents later divorced. He is the stepson of NBC 10 Anchor Renee Chenault-Fattah.[2] He is a graduate of Central High School[2] and Drexel University.[5]

On February 29, 2012, the Internal Revenue Service initiated an investigation in to alleged failure to pay government taxes. Agents questioned Fattah, during a 40 minute time period. During this time, newspaper reporters arrived at his home and took photos of officers, publishing the images later in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Fattah maintained that the press was "tipped off" to the investigation by IRS agents.[3] On March 19, 2014, Fattah filed a federal lawsuit against the IRS seeking nearly $1 million in damages for lost income and damage to his reputation.[6] On March 25, 2014, Fattah amended the lawsuit, increasing damages to $10 million, while adding the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice as additional defendants. Fattah maintains "that there may be a different standard between the way he has been treated and how the government treats others".[7][8] As of March 2014, the suit is pending in the U.S. District Court in Eastern Pennsylvania.[3][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]
