Introduction[edit]
Chakki is an upcoming Indian satirical drama that explores the topic of a common man entangled in the loop of corrupt practices of the Electricity supply department and his subsequent struggle to bring balance to his life. It is written by Ashwin Verman & Satish Munda and directed by Satish Munda, in his directorial debut. It is produced by Bharat Ninderwal, founder of Ninderwal Entertainment Private Limited.
The film stars Rahul Bhat and Priya Bapat in the lead roles, with Mushtak Khan, Srikant Verma, Alka Ameen, and Shahnawaz Pradhan as prominent characters.[1] Chakki will be distributed under Shiladitya Bora’s “Platoon One Films” banner. The film was shot in one schedule of 35 days extensively in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh during the pre-pandemic. It is scheduled to be released theatrically on October 7, 2022.[2]
Plot[edit]
Chakki is a story of a common man who enters into the faulty loop of a corrupt system which every common man in India experiences. The film narrates the life of the protagonist Vijay who has a normal, mundane life like every middle-class bread earner. His life is sorted until one day, it gets darkened, and Vijay enters into the loop of a system to bring back the light into his life.
Everything in his seemingly happy life turns upside down when he receives a hefty bill of 1.5 lakhs for his flour mill. Running around in circles to get his bill corrected, Vijay falls into a literal endless loop AKA ‘Chakki’ of the quintessential government inefficacy.
What will he do? Will he accept this as his fate? Is there no way out of this Corrupted "Chakki", which we all have accepted as a reality? The film engages and discourses with this idea of "Corruption vs Common man", adding a tinge of satire on top of it.

Development & Production[edit]
Director Satish Munda came across an article where a man got stuck in the loop of a system because of a faulty electricity bill. He instantly connected himself with this situation because he was going through the same incident in his personal life. This struck a chord to develop and give it a cinematic structure which most of us in India go through, leading to the development of Chakki with Ashwin Verman on the script table, they researched deeper into the storyline meeting real families and people who have experienced this situation.[3]
The research team that included Satendra Rai, Mohit Panchbhai and Souvik Chakravorty had to spend 6 months in Bhopal to learn about the ground legal systems, bureaucratic system fallacies and case studies on them. They personally visited electricity distribution departments and interacted with more than 200 families to learn about the subject, and were shocked to realize that almost everyone has been a victim of this loop; thereby paying hefty bribes to fix their electricity situation.
In the movie, the court scenes were inspired from the real-life court proceedings during the live sessions at Bhopal’s district and sessions court. These were witnessed by the research team and were carefully included in the screenplay presenting the real-life incidents.
The shooting began during the pre-pandemic time in the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh, and was completed in 35 days.
