Chang'e 2 moon base hoax

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Chang'e 2 moon base hoax is a persistent hoax spread by the Internet almost every year in around May and August, starting with the arrival of the Chinese orbiter Chang'e 2 on the Moon in 2010. The hoax purportedly shows an image of a "moon base" called "Luna" - which is in fact simply the Latin name for the Moon - supposedly imaged by the orbiter. In actuality, it is from the Lunar Orbiter launched by NASA in 1967. The hoax goes on to claim that the Apollo 11 crew and all further Apollo missions encountered aliens, and also claims the China National Space Administration will continue to declassify the information. The hoax persists despite several factors disproving it. The original perpetrator of the hoax is unknown.
