Charles Elliott (Sculptor)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Charles Elliott is a contemporary British sculptor, born in 1993 in rural Buckinghamshire.[1] Elliott's work involves metals and galvanisation processes to create abstract, wildlife and equestrian-themed sculptures.[2] These sculptures have been on display at various locations across the United Kingdom, including the Royal Ascot Racecourse, Hatfield House, Royal Chelsea Hospital and Bolesworth Castle.[3][4][5]

Exhibitions & Works[edit]

Elliott first opened his Buckinghamshire Studio in 2016, alongside contemporary artistry brand Elliott of London. In July 2017, Elliott first displayed his work at the Royal Ascot Racecourse, a life-size 'Racehorse Sculpture' created entirely out of 8mm steel.[4] For the Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show in May 2018, Charles Elliott was commissioned to create a "Shakespearean-inspired steel sculpture" as a centre-piece to be exhibited at the festival.[6] The sculpture, titled 'Love With The Mind' was created using a galvanised metal frame, presenting two abstract figures.[7] As part of the Chelsea Flower Show garden display, the piece was reportedly awarded a silver-gilt medal.[6]

In 2020, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Elliott created the 'In Safe Hands' sculpture, which was to be auctioned in order to raise funds for the United Kingdom's National Health Service.[8][3] The sculpture consisted of a galvanised sphere measuring 165cm x 165cm and was crafted in Elliott's Hertfordshire studio. The auction for the sculpture began on Friday 17th April and ran until Friday 1st May, with the intention of any proceeds from the auction being donated to NHS Charities Together.[8] The auction was won by Enterprise Skip Hire, reportedly raising £3950.[9]
