Charles Rodriguez (born April 6, 1990) is an American retired soccer player who is an assistant coach for the Stanford Cardinal. He played for Nashville Metros and Wilmington Hammerheads during his senior career.
Rodriguez was born in Franklin, Tennessee and attended Father Ryan High School in Nashville. He played four collegiate seasons at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, earning a nod as the 2010 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year[1] and as a 2011 NSCAA First Team All-American.[2]
D.C. United selected Rodriguez with the 45th pick in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft[3] and invited him to the club's preseason camp as a trialist.[4] He did not make the D.C. roster, and instead signed for USL Pro club Wilmington Hammerheads on July 10.[5] He made seven appearances for the Hammerheads during his lone season as a professional.[6]
After retiring, Rodriguez was hired as the director of soccer operations at Xavier.[7] He spent three seasons with the Musketeers before taking a job as an assistant coach at Stanford. The Cardinal won national titles in each of Rodriguez's first two seasons on staff.[8]
