Charles Sproull Thompson graduated from Harvard in 1887. After graduation he became a freight-contracting agent for the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1900 he was appointed commercial agent of that road in Dallas, Texas. In 1906 he was transferred to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and in 1912 he became general agent in charge of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota office.[1]
