Charlie Philip Kristensen, aka #CheerUpCharlie has won awards for anti-bullying (The Diana Award)[1], for boosting people's mental health ('Child of Courage - Pride of Reading Award)[2][3] and for raising awareness and giving people the support and confidence to deal with bullying (What's On Stage Angel Award)[4]. Charlie is also an actor, singer, interviewer, dancer, public speaker and influencer. Charlie's #CheerUpCharlie anti-bullying campaign commenced in 2019 after he was subjected to bullying at school for his love of all things performing arts and musical theatre, and after his singing teacher and mentor, Jacqueline Hughes, asked her West End and Broadway friends for messages of support, via Twitter, to help to cheer Charlie up.

  • Presented to teachers and heads of schools in the UK about change and the voice of students at the PiXL National Conference.[6][7]
  • Charlie made patron of The Alana Shirley Academy - ASA Theatre Arts - alongside Kerrie Ellis.[8]

2021

  • First #CheerUpCharlie Charity West End Gala Show held at The Actors' Church in Covent Garden, London[10]
  • Features in 'Tinkerbell The Musical' workshop, created by the musical writing team of Ryan Carey-Hills and Lauren Hendricks, alongside West End stars Alice Fearn, Oliver Savile and Courtney Bowman[11]
  • Acts voiceover for Iggy Peck, a character in Ada Twist, Scientist, for the UK version of the USA created series[12]
  • Acts voiceover for 'Watts' in 'Action Pack[13]

2020

  • Charlie delivers anti-bullying workshop with Nathaniel Morrison in support of The Diana Award's anti-bullying week[14]
  • Charity single - You Will Be Found, from 'Dear Evan Hansen' released[15]. Produced and directed by Auburn Jam, the single achieved number 41 in the itunes charts and raised money for The Diana Award. Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Charlie and all his West End Friends for their support.  Charlie’s courage in the face of his own bullying experience is an inspiration to us and the thousands of young people who will hear about his story. He reminds us daily how important it is to do the right thing, not the easy thing.  He is a fantastic Anti-Bullying ambassador and everyone at The Diana Award is proud of him.”[16]
  • Charlie commences performing arts training at MX Masterclass with Michael Xavier.[17]
  • #MusicalChairs Interviews commence and are published on his YouTube Channel. Charlie discusses anti-bullying, life and careers with stars, celebrities, athletes and significant public figures to continue highlighting bullying and his anti-bullying campaign[18].

2019

  • #CheerUpCharlie is borne out of the Musical Theatre world's reaction to the request from Jacqueline Hughes to send messages of support. Charlie receives messages and videos from all over the world and from many theatre production casts[19].
  • #CheerUpCharlie Anti-bullying campaign commences in collaboration with The Diana Award, with support from Alex Holmes (Deputy CEO @DianaAward and Founder of @Antibullyingpro), Tessy Ojo CBE (CEO @DianaAward & @antibullyingpro) and actor Will Poulter.[19]
  • Charlie appears on BBC's Good Morning with special guest appearance and support for Charlie from Michael Ball[20]
  • Charlie achieves 'The Diana Award' anti-bullying Ambassador status.[19]
  • Charlie trains at Guildford School of Acting (GSA)[17]

Charlie was born in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia in 2010 to Kat and Gary Kristensen MBE. Charlie has one brother, Cameron, born in 2003 in Reading, Berkshire, UK. Charlie and his family currently live in Hampshire.
