Charlie Samuels

Charlie Samuels is a professional photographer internationally recognized for action/sports portraits of skateboarding. Samuels directed and produced the feature documentary film, “VIRGIN BLACKTOP: A New York Skate Odyssey"

Career

Samuels grew up in Rockland County, New York, then became the feature photographer for The Diamondback, a student-run newspaper at the University of Maryland at College Park, where he graduated in 1984. His editorial photography career started by covering burgeoning New York City skateboard scene for Thrasher, Transworld skateboarding, Sports Illustrated, and The New York Times magazine.
