Cheeky Bazzas Football Club (commonly known as Cheeky Bazzas or Bazzas) is an amateur association football club based in St Helens, Merseyside, England. They played in the Soccer Sixes[3] Wednesday Night 6-a-side League, before a financial dispute and some of the players’ education requirements meant they left the league. The club is named after Bazzas Breakfast Bar, a popular small café/restaurant outside the college that many of the players attended.

History

Cheeky Bazzas was established in 2017 by a group of students from Carmel College[4] in St Helens, Merseyside, England. They played their first match, lasting 38 minutes, on a Monday night at Ruskin Drive, St Helens where the young, bare squad suffered an 8-2 defeat. The core of the squad remained the same but different players played throughout their year and a half stint in the Soccer Sixes[3] 6-a-side league. Throughout this period, Bazzas saw promotion and relegation, battling with rivals Bolton Squanderers, WeRise and Lads on Touré. The most thrilling game came in 2018 when Bazzas let a 3-1 lead go, in front of an impressive crowd, to rivals WeRise who pulled it back through the efforts of starman, at the time, Warren Robie, putting WeRise 4-3 up before a last-minute Andrew Grant equaliser meant the points were shared on derby day, with the reverse fixture ending in a 4-0 win for Cheeky Bazzas. Cheeky Bazzas dropped out of the league due to the majority of the players’ commitments to their A-Levels, from which a financial dispute arose with the league, concluding in all affiliation between the club and the league being dropped.

On the 17th of May 2019 Cheeky Bazzas played their first 11-a-side game against Carmel College Teachers[4] at Carmel College[4], St Helens, Merseyside, England. Wearing a blue kit, lent to them by Carmel College Teachers[4], the weakened Bazzas side, with some new additions, came out 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Oliver Johnson, Raihan Uddin and two from Kian Rooney. The club hopes to play some more 11-a-side games in the future.

Ground

It is believed that, to play any more 11-a-side games or even smaller games, the club would use the home of Pilkington Football Club[5] and St Helens Town Football Club[6], Ruskin Drive where Bazzas called home from their time in the Soccer Sixes[3] League. It is also possible that they would use Prescot Soccer Centre[7], where they have previously trained.

Kits

The club naturally adopted the colour dark green from the main colour and attire of Bazzas Breakfast Bar, which they are named after, but used a blue kit provided by Carmel College.[4] for their match against the Carmel College Teachers[4]
