Chemistry AddIn for Microsoft Word (Chem4Word) is an open source computer software library written in the programming language C#.
It allows users to import or draw chemical structures from within Windows versions of Microsoft Word 2010, 2013 or 2016.
Chemistry Markup Language (cml)
The Chemistry Addin for Microsoft Word uses Chemical Markup Language to store each chemical structure as an Open Office XML Custom XML Part in the Microsoft Word document structure and uses this chemical information to create a pictorial representation of the chemical structure.[1][2][3]
The Chemdoodle Web Sketcher molecule editor is employed to enable the end user to edit the structure.[4]
Since the chemical information is stored within the document in a machine readable format, it is possible to search for chemical information directly within the structure of the document.
Chem4word is licensed under the Apache 2.0 licence.
