Chen (Hen) Kordova (born 14 August 2002) also known as his stage name HENKO is an Israeli American producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist (primarily keyboards/guitar), and one-third of the Los Angeles-based alt-rock trio Temper City.

Born and raised in the Holon area of Israel, he met longtime collaborator Aviv Barenholtz at age 12 while both were students in the music track at Yigal Allon middle school (Kordova on piano, Barenholtz on drums). The two became best friends and began making music together as teenagers, forming the production duo Sync.

As half of Sync, Kordova built a substantial behind-the-scenes career writing and producing for Israeli stars (Noa Kirel, Sarit Hadad, Eden Ben Zaken, Netta, Mergui and others) and later international acts across EDM, Latin, and alternative (Zeds Dead, Dimitri Vegas, Fuerza Regida, Barns Courtney, Flyana Boss, plus sync work for TV/games).[1] The duo (and later trio with Eytan Peled) spent roughly five years commuting between Israel and Los Angeles. In 2021 the three formed Temper City; Kordova handles production, guitar/keys, and co-writing. Their 2026 debut single “Self Aware” became a global viral hit, followed by “Reverse Psychology.”[2][3]

Early life & career with Sync

They started making and producing music together as teenagers and were already creating hits for other artists by their late teens (around age 18), creating the music production duo 'Sync'.[4]

Sync specialized in clean, radio-ready EDM-pop and electronic-pop tracks, releasing short songs and the 2020 EP Pilot. Credited works include Noa Kirel & Gitit Fisher (“Tutit”) – “שלושה בנות” (Shlosha Banot / “Three Girls,” 2022 Pride anthem) — co-produced with Yinon Yahel,[5] Eden Ben Zaken – “Siri” — co-produced with Yinon Yahel[6] & additional production/writing work for Sarit Hadad, Jonathan Mergui (מרגי), Ran Danker, and other Israeli pop acts. Further songwriting credits include Zeds Dead & Hamdi feat. Warrior Queen – “Criminal” (2023),[7] Flyanna Boss - WASABI,[8] WIU WIU[9] (2026) . Kordova is also credited on the 2024 'VALORANT Sounds, Vol. 1' soundtrack, as a writer on 'Villain (Take the Shot) [feat. Eytan Peled]'.[10]

Temper City

Temper City was formed in 2021, Eytan Peled crossed paths with them around 2021 through studio sessions while all three were working as songwriters and producers. In late 2025 they decided to focus exclusively on their own project and formally became Temper City, with Peled on vocals, Kordova on guitar/keys, and Barenholtz on drums. Their sound draws from early-2000s indie rock grit (Arctic Monkeys influence) mixed with mid-2010s melodic, synth-driven alternative energy (The Killers, Foster the People, The Neighbourhood, Cage the Elephant).[11]

Self Aware (2026)

“Self Aware” was written in late 2025 when an artist failed to show up for a booked session; the trio spent the day refining what became their debut single. They began teasing it on TikTok in late January 2026 with desert recording clips. Released on 15 February 2026 via Thirty Knots with an accompanied black & white music video,[12] the single was Temper City's first chart entry on Billboard (Peak #35) . It later reached No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart.[2]

In Australia it climbed to No. 10 on the ARIA charts and spent around six months on the tally.[13] The United Kingdom saw a peak of No. 23 on the Official Singles Chart with a similar multi-month run.[14] New Zealand delivered a No. 11 peak, while Austria proved one of its strongest territories with a No. 3 high and roughly seven months on the charts. Germany and Switzerland also registered top-five peaks (No. 3–4 range),[15][16] and the song reached the top 10–15 in several other European markets including Belgium[17] and parts of Central and Eastern Europe.
