Eytan Peled is an American-Israeli singer-songwriter born on September 20, 1996, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the vocalist and one-third of the Los Angeles-based alt-rock trio Temper City alongside bandmates Chen Kordova and Aviv Barenholtz.[1]
Peled spent his childhood moving between Boston and Israel before settling more permanently in Israel around age 13–14. From a family of academics (his mother is Dr. Alisa Rubin Peled),[2] he developed an early interest in languages and culture.[3] He began playing guitar in second grade in Boston and later majored in Arabic in high school in Israel. As a teenager, he lived for a year in a northern Druze village (often referred to as Julius/Yulis), teaching Arabic and Hebrew in an educational program that brought Druze and Jewish youth together.[4]
His music career took off with the 2020 single “Where Are the Days,” which topped Israel’s viral charts across streaming platforms, earned millions of streams and views, and led to a nomination for Galgalatz Breakthrough Artist of the Year. He writes and performs in English, Arabic, and Hebrew (preferring English and Arabic for expressive freedom), blending indie, R&B, rock, and hip-hop influences, and has spoken openly about living with OCD. Peled has written hits and material for Israeli artists including Mergui (“Sucks to Know You”) and Noa Kirel (including soundtrack work for the TV show Kfula and Eurovision-related projects), as well as collaborating internationally with acts such as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Zeds Dead, Skazi, and Barns Courtney on the Valorant theme “Villain (Take the Shot).”
In February 2026, Temper City released their debut single 'Self Aware' with Peled on the vocals. The song went viral on TikTok and other social media's shortly after the release. The song has amassed over half a billion streams on Spotify and charted in dozens of countries.
Early Life
Eytan Peled was born on September 20, 1996, in Boston, Massachusetts, into a household shaped by academic inquiry and cross-cultural curiosity. His early years involved frequent movement between the United States and Israel, a pattern that continued until around age thirteen or fourteen, when the family settled more permanently in Ra’anana.[5] English remained his first language, while the dual environment exposed him from childhood to shifting cultural rhythms and expectations. Both of his parents are professors; his mother, Dr. Alisa Rubin Peled, holds a PhD in History and Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University and has long been a senior lecturer at Reichman University, where she founded and directs the Argov Fellows Program in Leadership and Diplomacy. [6]She has published scholarly work on Israeli policy toward Islamic institutions and on the expansion of American-style higher education in the Arab world, providing a home environment that valued languages, history, and open-minded engagement with the region.[7][8][9]
In second grade in Boston, Peled began formal guitar lessons with a teacher named Gary, absorbing rock repertoire, yet he remained notably shy and confined his own songwriting to private moments rather than public performance. After the family’s move to Israel, he chose Arabic as a high-school major, drawn by a sense that the language belonged naturally to life in the Middle East and surprised that relatively few Jewish Israelis spoke it.[10] This early linguistic interest, nurtured in an academically oriented home, laid the groundwork for the deeper immersion that would follow in military service and later educational work in a Druze village.
Career
Peled made his solo breakthrough in 2020 with the viral single "Where Are the Days", which garnered over a million streams, earned significant airplay on Galgalatz radio, and landed him a nomination for Galgalatz Breakthrough Artist of the Year.[4] Over the following years, Peled embraced a distinctive trilingual approach to promote cultural connection through music, releasing standout multicultural singles such as "Sakatna" and "Salem." Beyond his standalone releases, he established a strong presence as a featured vocalist and co-writer in electronic and video game music, collaborating on high-profile projects including the 2024 VALORANT gaming track "Villain (Take the Shot)" with Barns Courtney and ARB4, alongside electronic hits like "Saved My Life" with Avi Snow and Tamir Regev, "Sunlight" with Mishell, and "Out of Luck" with Roby Fayer.[11]
Temper City
Peled’s transition from a solo artist and behind-the-scenes pop songwriter into the frontman of Temper City occurred through a twist of fate during a studio session in Los Angeles. Peled had already built a successful career writing hits for other artists alongside production duo Chen Kordova and Aviv Barenholtz (who produced under the name Sync Beats). When a scheduled client unexpectedly canceled a studio session at the last minute, the three musicians decided not to waste the studio time and instead began writing for themselves. During that seven-hour session, they obsessively crafted the groove, structure, and lyrical hooks for what would become "Self Aware," giving birth to their original indie-rock project.[12]
From Peled’s perspective, transitioning to Temper City represented the fulfillment of a lifelong dream after years of writing songs for others. Reflecting on the group's sudden rise, Peled and his bandmates described stepping out from behind the scenes as "honestly surreal"[13] yet deeply validating, noting that after years of writing in studio rooms, they felt eager and ready to launch a project of their own. For Peled, who began writing introspective songs privately in his bedroom as a child, seeing listeners around the world connect with the song's personal vulnerability and turn an intimate studio moment into a universal shared experience has been deeply rewarding. He views the band not just as a commercial vehicle, but as a realization of a childhood dream to connect emotionally with audiences globally through raw, unfiltered music.[14]
Self Aware (2026)
“Self Aware” was written almost by accident in late 2025 when an artist failed to show up for a booked session; the trio spent the day refining what became their debut single. They began teasing it on TikTok in late January 2026 with desert recording clips. Released on 15 February 2026 via Thirty Knots (after roughly 80 label meetings) with an accompanied black & white music video [15], the song exploded virally, topping Spotify and TikTok viral charts in dozens of countries, racking up hundreds of millions of streams, and making Temper City achieve their first chart entry on Billboard with their debut single (Peak #35) . It later reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart.[16]
In Australia it climbed to No. 10 on the ARIA charts and spent around six months on the tally[17]. The United Kingdom saw a peak of No. 23 on the Official Singles Chart with a similar multi-month run[18]. New Zealand delivered a No. 11 peak, while Austria proved one of its strongest territories with a No. 3 high and roughly seven months on the charts. Germany and Switzerland also registered top-five peaks (No. 3–4 range)[19][20], and the song reached the top 10–15 in several other European markets including Belgium[21] and parts of Central and Eastern Europe, alongside strong viral and streaming performance that helped push it high on global Spotify and TikTok charts.
Reverse Psychology (2026)
“Reverse Psychology,” is Temper City’s second single (released 28 August 2026 via Thirty Knots/Interscope) released with an accompanying music video, explores the addictive push-and-pull of a complicated, emotionally manipulative relationship. The song was written by the band (Eytan Peled, Chen Kordova, Aviv Barenholtz) together with Jesse Fink and Kevin White. Temper City has said music functions as a form of therapy for them, and they often draw on personal conversations about complicated relationships and the unfiltered side of human behavior. Produced by Barenholtz, Kordova, Fink, and White, it builds on the nostalgic alt-rock foundation of “Self Aware” but adds a funkier bass line, enveloping synths, and a more dance-able, soaring chorus.
As of October 2026, no official album title or exact release date has been announced for the groups debut album. They indicated it is scheduled for early 2027, following a planned rollout of additional singles after “Reverse Psychology.” The project is expected on Thirty Knots / Interscope. [22]
