Chengdu Tool Research Institute Co., Ltd (Chinese: 成都工具研究所有限公, also known as CTRI),[1][2] a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Corporation, was established in 1956 as the only tool research and development institution in the machinery industry directly under the former Chinese Ministry of Machinery Industry. The main business is common technology research and the development and production of high-tech products in the fields of precision cutting tools, tool materials, precision measuring instruments and surface modification technology.[3][4][5]
History
1956 - Established in Beijing
1964 - Journals Tool Engineering and Tool Review were founded[6]
1965 - Relocated to Chengdu
1977 - Senior Engineer Huang invented "New technique of measuring the overall error of gears".
1988 - Transferred the "bevel gear measurement technology" to company KELLENBERGER[7][8]
Signed a project with the United Nations for the development of precision gauges
1998 - approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the base unit of "National Precision Tool Engineering Technology Research Center".
1999 - Turned into a science and technology-based enterprise, approved by the State Council and transferred to China National Machinery Industry Group Corporation
