Cascata del Cenghen Abbadia Lariana Lake Como

Chengen Falls or Cascate del Chengen is a waterfall on the Lake Como in Abbadia Lariana, near Lierna. The Chengen waterfalls are located in the most beautiful naturalistic area of Lake Como between Abbadia and Varenna overlooking the tip of Bellagio, studied for a long time by Leonardo da Vinci for its unique and particular naturalistic landscape characteristics.

Chengen Falls were formed when glaciers receded at the end of the Lake Como mountain glaciation (the last ice age).

Although not very high, Chengen Falls is very wide. It is the most popular waterfall in the Lake Como. Cascata Cenghen is a waterfall in a narrow gorge plunging down over 30–45 meters. Down the waterfall there is a small pool, refreshing on warm days. In summertime the flow of the river can be highly reduced. Chengen Falls is a very popular tourist destination. Many people visit it on holiday in Lake Como.

There are several trails that lead to Cascata Cenghen. Most people start from Crebbio - Lombrino, a walk of 90 minutes. It is also possible to start from Abbadia Lariana. A trail starts from Via per Robbianico and it looks shorter but it has an ascent of 200 meters (45–60 minutes).
