Martin Chesny Young (born October 6, 1992) is an American professional baseball infielder for the St. Paul Saints of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

Career[edit]

Young attended the Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia and played college baseball at Mercer University. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 14th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.[1] Young made his professional debut with the Arizona League Cubs and was later promoted to the Boise Hawks and Kane County Cougars that season. He posted a combined .327 batting average with 18 RBIs in 44 total games between the three teams. He played for the South Bend Cubs and Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2015, batting a combined .320 with one home run and 44 RBIs, and the Tennessee Smokies in 2016, batting .303 with four home runs, 37 RBIs and 16 stolen bases.[2][3][4] After the 2016 season he played for the Águilas Cibaeñas of the Dominican Professional Baseball League. He spent 2017 with the Iowa Cubs where he posted a .256 batting average with one home run and 33 RBIs in 120 games, and returned to Iowa in 2018, batting .266 with 20 RBIs in 81 games.[5] He was released from the Cubs organization on March 23, 2019.

On April 11, 2019, Young signed with the St. Paul Saints of the American Association.
