Chhana Pandey[edit]

Introduction[edit]

Chhana Pandey (alternatively known as Chhana also) is a village about 12 km from Pithoragarh town in the state of Uttarakhand in India. One can reach this village by road via the place Chandak. This village is an old village of Pandey Brahmin community in this area. The main surname of the villagers is Pandey only. Many villagers have got their houses constructed in the town of Pithoragarh and have shifted there. So the number of household is significantly reduced and is about 35-40 numbers only. As per 2011 year India census the population of Chhana was 508 but today the expected population will hardly be around 200. The PIN code (Postal code) of the village is 262501.

There is a good school facility in this village and one Intermediate (higher secondary) College (up to class XII) is there where education upto class XII can be availed. The students from nearby villages like Gurura, Dhari Gaon, Kante etc also come to attend their classes to this school.

There is a Lord Shiva temple in the village along the side of a rivulet known as Gokarneshwar. This temple is very near to the village hardly about 200 m. There is one more temple near the village known as Jwala Devi temple. The famous temple of Mostamanu where annual business fair for the local region is held, is only about 3.5 km from this village.
