Chiara Mele (born 23 January 2002) is an Italian footballer who plays as a defender for Genoa C.F.C. Women in the Italian Serie A.
Career
Chiara Mele was born in Mantua and began to play as a full-back in the youth ranks of Fortitudo Mozzecane in 2016, a team that later changed its name to ChievoVerona, competing in Serie B throughout Mele's stay (from 2017 to 2023).
Chiara made exactly 100 appearances for ChievoVerona, scoring one goal (Fortitudo Mozzecane-Brixen 6-0, in December 2017, when she was only 15).[3]
In the summer of 2023, Genoa signed several players from ChievoVerona: alongside Mele, also Ferrato, Scuratti, and Tardini, in addition Massa returned from loan.[4]
In the 2024/2025 season, when both Genoa and Mele achieved their first historic promotion to Serie A, the full-back was named in the Serie B Team of the Season.
The following year, on August 22, 2025, Chiara Mele scored the first professional goal in Genoa's history, in a 1–2 defeat against Inter in the Serie A Women's Cup.[5]
International career
Chiara Mele has played for the Italian national team both at the Under-16 level, making 5 appearances in 2018, and at the Under-17 level, with 11 appearances between 2018 and 2019 (including 3 at the European Championship in May 2018, against Spain, Poland and Portugal).[6]
Achievements
She scored the first professional goal in Genoa's history (Genoa-Inter 1–2, 22 August 2025).[7]
