Chicco Kurniawan

Chicco Kurniawan (born 16 May 1994) is an Indonesian actor and model. He is known for his role in Posesif (2017) and in the short film Pria. Kurniawan earned the Citra Award for Best Actor for his role in Photocopier (2021).

Early life
Kurniawan was born on 16 May 1994 in Jakarta, Indonesia, as the youngest of the three sons.[1][2] His brothers were Christie Kurniawan and Bobby Samuel, also an actor.[1][3] He was raised in a less-than-ideal family environment.[4] Kurniawan's mother suffered from schizophrenia, and his father separated and built a new family.[4] In this complicated family situation, Kurniawan, still in junior high school, tried to find a way to survive; one way was by working as an internet cafe attendant to make ends meet.[4]

Kurniawan started his career by appearing in television films and working as an advertising model, and gained wide attention for his role in Posesif (2017) as Rino.[1][5][4] He starred in numerous television films and films as an extra.[3] After that, Kurniawan made his acting debut in a television series titled Pipit I Love You Pull (2014), which led him to get roles in numerous television series, web series, and films.[4] He then starred in a short film titled Pria as Aris, a gay man who grapples with his sexual identity, which is opposed by his Javanese family.[1][2] Kurniawan later was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Short Film at the Madrid International Film Festival in 2017 and for Best Actor in a Short Film at the Twister Alley International Film Festival in 2017.[2] He won a Citra Award for Best Actor at the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival for his role in Photocopier (2021) as Amin, winning against Iqbaal Ramadhan, Reza Rahadian, Jefri Nichol, Deddy Mizwar, and Khiva Iskak.[1][5][2][4] After winning the Citra Award, Kurniawan began starring in numerous projects, such as 13 Bombs in Jakarta (2023), The Talent Agency (2023), and Rencana Besar.[5]
