Chickin Chase (also known as "Chicken Chase") is a computer game developed by JAWX, who represented a number of French developers. It was first released for 8-bit computers in 1984. The original name of the game, used in the Oric, Thomson and French MSX version is a French pun: "Coq" means rooster – and "Coquine" means naughty, or minx-like woman in French. This "-in" suffix perhaps led to the "Chickin" spelling of "Chicken" in other regions.

Gameplay

The player controls the titular cockerel who looks after his hens' eggs. After an egg has been produced, the player must keep away other animals such as rats and porcupines, in order to protect it..[1]

Reception

The game was often remarked upon as being of high quality for a budget title. Zzap!64, Crash, and Amtix![2] all awarded the game 79%, whereas Amstrad Action gave it 64%[3]. Your Sinclair rated it 7/10 for the ZX Spectrum version. However, MSX Magazine France awarded the game just 2/5[4]
