Chillx is a one-stop entertainment app with a vast library of games, video, movies, news and other applications customized in multiple Indian regional languages like Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and English.

Officially launched on 9 November 2016,[1] Chillx is a Reliance Entertainment [2] venture with co-partners FunOnGo Media & Entertainment LLP [3] who aggregates content and development. With the Chillx app, Reliance has become one of the biggest content aggregators, publishers, and distributors in the country, with more than 500 partners - including Plan C Company and Phantom Films.

1. Accessibility : Chillx is distributed to consumers via 3 routes: On-device with select Indian OEMs, sideloaded at telecom retail stores & on Google Play Store.

4. Simplicity : Free and Premium content is available on Chillx. For paid content, Chillx has integrated telecom billing option for ease of operation.

Login and Customization[edit]

While the app does not require a compulsory login , users can login via their mobile number, apart from their Facebook or Google accounts. On login, the app provides multiple customization options such as interests, video duration, language etc. The users can also choose streaming video and audio quality, including the ability to set medium quality on poor bandwidth and high quality on good connections. Users have access to both streaming and download options for music and video content, along with an offline viewing option.

Availability[edit]

While the Chillx app is available to download via Google Play, the app will come pre-loaded on smartphones of select OEMs, and can also be sideloaded at select telecom retail stores. The company has already tied up with Micromax, Intex, Lava, and Karbonn for preloading the app on their smartphones.

Content Plans and Payment[edit]

Chillx provides both free and paid content, with plans starting at ₹49/month. The app allows users to choose from several payment mechanisms, including telecom/carrier billing.

The app also features reward points, which can be earned by liking content and inviting friends. Points can be redeemed when purchasing content in-app.

In India, Reliance Entertainment has produced, distributed and released more than 170 films in multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, etc. The studio has formed Plan C Studios a partnership venture with director Neeraj Pandey that recently produced the very successful Akshay Kumar starrer film, Rustom (film). Besides Reliance Entertainment has an on-going partnership with Phantom Films, a company created by highly talented directors and producers.[5]

FunOnGo[edit]

FunOnGo Media & Entertainment LLP is one of the largest content aggregators and platform managers, providing a host of solutions including application and game development. FunOnGo bridges the gap between content providers and device manufacturers in providing world-class entertainment to the end user. Indian mobile phone brands like Intex, Micromax, Karbonn, Panasonic, Spice, Videocon are some of its clients. Across all its clients, FunOnGo has the potential to reach 40% of the smartphone users in India.

The co-founders - Vijay Singh and Ujjwal Narayan - manage the day-to-day operations of the company and have a proven track record in delivery of entertainment VAS services.[6]

Vijay Singh started as an entrepreneur from the time he completed his Bachelor of Engineering from Nagpur University. Ujjwal Narayan, is an alumnus of BIT, Mesra & is a Telecom industry specialist, last having served in a senior executive position with Bharti Airtel.
