Chimpmania
Chimpmania is a website and Internet forum that specializes in anti-black content. The website has been described as a "hate site consisting of permabanned rejects from Niggermania and Chimpout." [1]
Posting policy[edit]
Chimpmania users consider blacks to be non-human, and the word "nigger" is commonly used there. On the other hand, the site strictly forbids bashing "human" (i.e. non-black) racial or religious groups. However, non-blacks in interracial relationships with blacks are targeted, and referred to as "traitorous coal burners and oil drillers". The site does not allow promotion of violence, and forbade threats against former President Barack Obama and his family while he was in office. Users are given rankings in recognition of how many posts they have made, ranging from "Veterinarian", "Prison Warden" and "Zoo Guide", to "Head Zoo Curator". [2]
Controversial threads[edit]
Several discussion threads on Chimpmania have become particularly controversial and attracted coverage in the media. After Trayvon Martin's death, Chimpmania created a subforum to bash him. Members posted images of Martin burning in Hell, and referred to him as "Lil' Skittles" and "Traycoon". [2]
Chimpmania users also created a thread mocking a black quadruple amputee who had been an aspiring dancer. The thread, titled "Amputee wants legs to dance wiff", featured pictures of the woman alongside fried chicken, watermelon and malt liquor. Other users inserted images of the woman into copyrighted images, such as a screenshot from Dolphin Tale and an image featuring Larry the Cable Guy. The amputee's mother unsuccessfully tried to have Chimpmania as a whole taken down, but she did at least manage to have the copyrighted images removed from the site. [1]
On another thread targeting black inventor Julian Sharpe, users posted pictures of all four of Sharpe and his wife's children. Sharpe's wife unsuccessfully tried to have the children's images taken off the website, but discovered that it was hidden behind several layers of proxy servers. [3]
Buzzfeed reported on a Chimpmania thread targeting Michael L. Johnson, a former wrestler found guilty of exposing sexual partners to HIV. [4] Site users also ridiculed a young murder victim from St. Paul, Minnesota. [5]
