Chinu Kala is an Indian entrepreneur[1][2][3], Former Gladrags Mrs India Finalist and founder of Rubans Accessories.[4][5][6][7][8]

Early Life and education

Chinu Kala was born on 10 October 1981 in Rajasthan.[9][7]

Due to family issues, Chinu left her home at the age of 15. Initially, she lived at Bombay Central Railway Station and later at a women’s dormitory. Chinu worked as a door-to-door saleswoman, tele-caller, makeup artist, waitress, and receptionist in her early days.[10]

She had no formal education and learnt only through practical experiences.[11][12]

Career

In 2008, Chinu started up Fonte Corporate Solutions, her first venture, which specialised in corporate merchandising and worked for brands such as Oracle, ITC Limited, Sony Pictures, Tv Today, Indian Premier League (IPL).[13], Sony Ericsson, Titan, Star Plus, Aaj Tak and SABmiller[4]. Chinu participated in Gladrags Mrs India Pageant[14] in 2008 and reached the finals.[15]

Being fond of fashion, Chinu Kala founded Rubans Accessories,[16] an online Indian fashion jewelry brand in 2014[12] with the support of her husband, Amit Kala. Rubans headquarters is located in Forum Mall, Bengaluru.[17]. Its official retail store is at Lulu Mall, Kochi.

Rubans won The Star Debutant Retailer Awards of 2016.[18] She started 24-hour delivery service of Rubans Accessories through its website. In 2017, Rubans made a sale of Rs.54 Lakhs[2]. Rubans’ last year (2019) turnover was recorded to be Rs.7.5 crores.[7]

Personal life

Chinu Kala was born on 10 October 1981 in Rajasthan. In 2004, Chinu married Amit Kala in Delhi.[19] They have a daughter.
