Chiquita Brooks-LaSure is the Managing Director at Manatt. She has been announced as a nominee to be the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Education[edit]

Brooks-LaSure graduated earned a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University in 1996 and a Master of Public Policy from the McCourt School of Public Policy of Georgetown University in 1999.[1]

Career[edit]

Brooks-LaSure began her career as a program examiner and lead Medicaid analyst at the Office of Management and Budget. Early in her career, she served on the staff of the United States House Committee on Ways and Means.[1] She previously served as deputy director for policy at the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and as Director of coverage policy at the United States Department of Health and Human Services, where she led the agency’s implementation of ACA coverage and insurance reform policy provisions.[2]

Intent to nominate as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services[edit]

On February 19, 2021, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Brooks-LaSure to be the next Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services[2] If confirmed, she would be the first Black woman to hold the position.[3]
