Chiyaan61 is the tentative title for the upcoming Indian Tamil-language period drama film written and directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, under the banner Studio Green, starring Vikram and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles.[1][2]

Producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja announced their upcoming production number 23 featuring Vikram on 2 December 2021, tentatively titled as Chiyaan61.[3]The film is directed by Pa. Ranjith, who previously directed films including Madras, Kabali and Sarpatta Parambarai.[2][4] The details of the other cast and crew are expected soon. Director Ranjith, during his recent media interaction had revealed that Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka is the backdrop for the film. It is a historical drama about working-class miners who discover gold in the 19th century.[5]

Casting[edit]

On 19 July 2022, Rashmika Mandanna was announced to be playing the female lead opposite Vikram.[6]
