Chloe Chong (born 27 March 2007) is a Canadian-British racing driver who currently competes in the F4 British Championship.[1] She was one of four finalists in the 2022 edition of FIA Girls on Track - Rising Stars[2], and was the youngest driver to compete in F1 Academy in the inaugural 2023 season.[3]
Career
Karting
Chloe Chong's karting experience started in 2013 at Buckmore Park Kart Circuit.[4] She debuted internationally in the Rotax Max Euro Trophy and in the IAME Ladies Cup in France in 2021.[5] In 2022, Chong was a finalist for the FIA's female talent detection Girls on Track - Rising Stars program. The assessment included two days of testing in a Formula 4 car.[6]
F1 Academy
On 15 March 2023, it was announced that Chloe Chong would compete in F1 Academy for Prema Racing.[7] She was the youngest driver in the inaugural season of the championship, and the only one making the jump from karting to cars.[3] Due to limited preparation time for her first season of single seaters, Chong struggled to handle the physicality of the series.[8] She finished 14th of 15 drivers, but scored points in her debut and all four of the final races.[9]
Indian Racing League
In December of 2023, Chloe Chong raced in two rounds of the Indian Racing League with the team Speed Demons Delhi.[10] She scored a 10th place finish in her second race, salvaging points with top-6 pace after a mistake left her two laps down.[11]
British F4
For the 2024 season, Chong moved to the F4 British Championship with JHR Developments.[12] Halfway through the season she has secured five top-15 finishes, with a season's best result of 13th at race 3 in Thruxton Circuit.[13] She was awarded the Pirelli Hardest Charger Award for round six at Zandvoort, after making up a total of 25 positions over the three races.[14]
