Chouïa cinema ("A Bit of Cinema") is a French 2003 documentary film about the rebirth of the cinema of Algeria, which, having distinguished itself on the African continent earlier, suffered from neglect during the 1980s. The film follows a young French-Algerian director, Lyes Salem, as he directs his second short film, "Cousines" in Algeria. It depicts the sentiments of a younger generation of actors and filmmakers who express their reactions to the war-induced cultural decline in Algeria.[1]
