Chris Moore (radio presenter)
Chris Moore is a Welsh Radio presenter, who hosted a successful mid-morning programme for over a decade on Real Radio South Wales.
Biography[edit]
Moore was born in Llwyncelyn and began his radio career in 1985 when he joined the local radio station CBC as a freelance presenter, he continued to stay freelance when the station rebranded itself as Red Dragon Radio in October 1985 and stayed with the station for the best part of 11 years, he began working full time in 1989. Moore hosted Breakfast on Red Dragon during the early nineties and also served as the stations Head of Music and was for a time Deputy Programme Controller.[1] He left Red Dragon in August 1996 and moved over to the sister station Touch AM, and began hosting the daily drive time show, as well as serving as the stations programme editor. Moore stayed with Touch until the end of 1999, when it was relaunched as Capital Gold South Wales.
After a few months of presenting the Drivetime show on Bridge FM, Moore was recruited by John Myers to join the newly formed Real Radio and host the stations mid-morning programme. Moore was in fact the first voice heard during the opening transmission on 3 October 2000. During his time at Real, Moore's show pulled in an average 250,000 listeners per day and was the most listened to radio show in all of Wales, he also served as Head of Presentation for the station and regularly contributed to articles in the Western Mail and South Wales Echo,[2] he won a Special Award at the 2010 GMG Radio Awards.[3] In January 2011, Moore moved from mid-mornings to the 1-4 afternoon slot, with Jason Harrold taking over on mid-mornings, however this venture was to last five months as in June 2011, Moore left Real Radio after nearly 11 years with the station.[4]
Since leaving Real, Moore has continued to be involved with Radio broadcasting, In July 2011 he covered for Roy Noble on the latter's BBC Radio Wales and regularly sits in for Noble on the network. In May 2021 he began presenting a weekend morning show for the internet radio station Retro Sound South Wales.[5] He currently runs his own consultancy business Chris Moore Media, which specialises in Social Media services.
Moore has a son and two daughters, one of which is Lauren Moore, who has since followed her fathers footsteps and currently hosts a Friday evening show on BBC Radio Cymru.
