Chris Sund (born March 14, 1984) is an American author, keynote speaker, podcast host and healthcare staffing executive. He is the author of You Are Capable of More: A No-Excuses Guide to Becoming Your Best Self (2026) and serves as president and chief operating officer of three companies, Uniti Med, GQR Healthcare and Nebula.[1][2] He founded the Amplify Speakers bureau and hosts the Amplify Speakers Podcast.[3] He is known for two workplace frameworks, SPARK for employee retention and LAARC for objection handling, which have been documented by several industry organizations.[4][5]


Early life

Sund was born and raised in Fremont, Nebraska, and attended Fremont High School. He worked in the restaurant and beverage industry before entering healthcare staffing.[6]

Career

Healthcare staffing

Sund joined Fusion Medical Staffing, an Omaha agency placing travel nurses and allied health professionals, in 2016. He worked there as a recruiter, client manager and division manager, and later as director of sales and business development.[6]

He joined Uniti Med in January 2022 as chief operating officer. In April 2023 he spoke on a panel of leaders from firms named to the Staffing Industry Analysts list of Best Staffing Firms to Work For, and the organizer, Sense, later published his remarks on workplace culture as a standalone article.[7][8] He was promoted to president and chief operating officer in May 2023.[9][10][11]

In 2024, the recruitment firm GQR acquired Uniti Med.[12][13] Sund now leads Uniti Med, GQR Healthcare and Nebula, an AI powered talent sourcing platform.[1]

Uniti Med ranked No. 622 on the 2025 Inc. 5000 and No. 3 on the 2025 Inc. Regionals: Midwest list of the region's fastest growing private companies.[14] It was named to the 2023 Fortune Best Small and Medium Workplaces in Health Care list,[15] ranked No. 9 among the best travel nursing companies of 2024 by BluePipes,[16] and received ClearlyRated Best of Staffing Talent awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025.[17] Locally, it placed second in 2023 and third in 2024 in the 25 to 200 employee category of the Best Places to Work in Omaha survey,[18] and received a Better Business Bureau Torch Award in 2024.[19]

Sund serves as vice president of the board of directors of the National Association of Travel Healthcare Organizations.[20] In 2023, the Midlands Business Journal named him to its 40 Under 40 list.[21]

Frameworks

Sund developed SPARK, a framework for employee retention built on the argument that pay attracts workers but culture keeps them. The National Association for Health Care Recruitment set out the framework in full in a 2026 article on lessons for healthcare recruiters.[4] He presented it as a breakout session on the retention track of the Greater Omaha Chamber's POWER Conference.[22]

He also teaches LAARC, a five step method for handling objections: listen, acknowledge, ask, respond and confirm. The background screening company Cisive broke the method down step by step in its write up of the 2025 NAHCR conference,[5] and LeadingAge Illinois included it with stated learning objectives in its 2026 conference program.[23]

Writing

You Are Capable of More: A No-Excuses Guide to Becoming Your Best Self was published by Game Changer Publishing on August 13, 2026, with a foreword by performance coach Ben Newman.[24][25] The book combines memoir with practical guidance and draws on a survey Sund conducted of more than 200 working adults, in which 92 percent said they believed they were capable of more than they were currently doing.[26]

He writes on leadership and workplace culture for Inc.[27][28] and Forbes, where he is a member of the Forbes Business Council.[29][30] His essay on complacency appeared in Tiny Buddha,[31] and he has written on the nursing shortage for the trade publication Staffing Industry Analysts.[32]

Speaking

Sund speaks at conferences and corporate events on personal growth, leadership, workplace culture and sales. He has spoken at TravCon, the travel healthcare industry conference, in 2023 and 2024,[33][34] the National Commission on Correctional Health Care national conference,[35] the Iowa Health Care Association annual convention[36] and the LeadingAge Illinois annual conference.[23] He has presented webinars for the American Staffing Association[37] and spoke at DisruptHR Omaha in 2026.[2] He is a Maxwell Leadership Certified speaker, trainer and coach.[38]

Broadcasting and podcasts

Sund hosts the Amplify Speakers Podcast, which features interviews with speakers, authors, athletes and business executives.[3][39]

He has appeared as a guest on My KC Live on KCTV5 in Kansas City,[40] WOWT in Omaha,[41] Pure Nebraska on 10/11 News in Lincoln,[42] Studio 512 on KXAN in Austin[43] and Bloom on WFLA in Tampa,[44] and on the Omaha public radio station KIOS-FM.[26]

His podcast guest appearances include Catalytic Leadership with William Attaway,[45] Unlocking High Performance with Jason Lauritsen,[46] CEO Daily Brief with Jessica Kriegel,[47] The Staffing Show[48] and Staffing Stories.[49]

Personal life

Sund lives in Fremont, Nebraska, with his wife, Courtney, a respiratory therapist, and their three sons.[50]
