Chris Terrell (born June 2, 1972) is an American basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the Dallas Skyline of The Basketball League. He has extensive experience as both a professional basketball coach and general manager.
Coaching career[edit]
In 2006, he was named as the head coach of the Texas Tycoons. Terrell led the team to the 2007 ABA Championship, and it was announced that the team would compete year round in the World Basketball Association (WBA) [1] On May 22, 2006 he was named the Director of Basketball operations for the World Basketball Association (WBA). [2]
Terrell was the director of basketball development for the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA D-League for the 2006–07 season.[3]
In 2009, after coaching in Mexico, Chris Terrell was named the head coach of the Dallas Generals of the ABA.[4]. In 2010, become the head coach for Fuerza Guinda de Nogales.[5]
In January 2012, Terrell took over the position of head coach for CSS Giurgiu in the Romanian top-tier Liga Națională, replacing Djordje Jovicic.[6] In the process, Terrell became the first American to coach in the top leagues of Latin America (LNBP), China (CBA) and Europe (Romania A) As a member of FIBA Europe 1, CSS Giurgiu finished the 2011–2012 season on a positive defeating Timisoara and winning their final 2 games moving past rival FC Dinamo in the standings. Retained for the 2012–2013 season, Terrell has been given the added charge of helping to assemble the club's roster and has added the role of director of basketball in addition to head coach.[7]
In 2013, Terrell was hired as the head coach of the Halifax Rainmen but was fired after three months due to the team's poor record.[8][9]
On May 27, 2019 Terrell was hired as the head coach of the Dallas Skyline, who begin play in 2020 as part of The Basketball League.[10].
