Christopher Banahan (born 9 April 1958) is an Irish painter based in Galway.

Born in Nottingham to Irish parents, Banahan took a first class honours degree in fine arts at Nottingham Trent University in 1981. He went on to take an MA at Goldsmiths College in London and received a 'Rome award in Painting' Scholar in the British School at Rome in October 1990.[1]

He has exhibited throughout Ireland and in parts of the USA.[2] Banahan has also represented Ireland in international exhibitions, such as 'Metaphor for Ireland: Paintings, Poetic's and the Old Sod' at the Fuller gallery, Boston University, 1997 and 'Contemporary Art from Ireland' European Central Bank, Frankfurt, Germany, 2005.[3][better source needed]

His painting, "Palatine" (1985) is in the collection of the London Borough of Camden. [4]

In 2013 he was awarded an M.A. in Production and Direction from Huston Film School of Digital Media, NUIG Galway, Ireland.[citation needed]
