Christopher M. Simon (born December 30, 1971 in Paramaribo, Suriname) is an Atlanta Civil Trial Attorney and author of The Georgia Guide to Buying car insurance[1] and Handling Car Accident Claims[2]. He gained media notoriety in Georgia for proposing controversial legislation aimed at curtailing the driving privileges of senior citizens[3][4]. Simon also has provided national news commentary for Fox News Channel regarding legal cases involving Michael Vick[5], Anna Nicole Smith[6][7] and Fitbit[8].
His more controversial legal cases have included representing Heather McCarty's insurance claim in the nationally covered Snapchat negligence case[9], advocating for stricter training requirements for power boaters in the wake of several fatalities on Lake Lanier[10], encouraging police departments to investigate bars that over-serve customers[11], and advocating for consumer rights against insurance companies.[12]
Education & Experience[edit]
Christopher Simon is a 1993 graduate of the University of Virginia with B.A. Foreign Affairs. Simon then obtained his law degree from Mercer University in 1997. He also attended Dispute Resolution Training in 2006 and is a Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution Certified Mediator. Simon is a former lawyer for: USAA, Liberty Mutual, Wassau, Safeco, Empire Fire and Marine, Lincoln General, Cotton States and Farmers Insurance.
He is a mediator with the State of Georgia and has been named to the Top 100 Lawyers in the state by peer selection of the last 4 years[13].
