Chrys Kefalas

Chrys Kefalas is an American attorney, activist, and Republican politician from Maryland. A Baltimore native Chrys Kefalas, an openly gay Republican, is running for Maryland's open United States Senate seat.[1][2] If elected, he would be the first openly gay Republican elected to Congress.[3]

Education and personal life[edit]

Kefalas is engaged to be married to 94.7 Fresh FM radio personality Tommy McFLY.[4]

Career[edit]

Kefalas was formerly speechwriter and aide to Attorney General. Eric Holder.[3] He was trial and appellate attorney at the Department of Justice, a business lawyer and deputy legal counsel to Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich.[5]

Kefalas is on leave from his job at the the National Association of Manufacturers in Washington while he runs for Senate.[6]

2016 Senate run[edit]

On December 1, 2015, Kefalas announced that he would be running as a Republican for the U.S. Senate seat in Maryland during an appearance on On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.[7]
