Chuckfight
Chuckfight is an American sport that often ends in non-serious injury. Chuckfight was created on July 4, 2018.
History Chuckfight was created on July 4, 2018. It evolved from "Monkey in the Middle" when the players decided that there should be two teams and it "kind of got out of hand" as said by eyewitness Joseph Padrick Burke.
The teams in this game were the "Red Team" headed by Theodore "Teddy" Burke, and the "Blue Team" headed by Joseph Burke and Henry "The Tank" Gumper, a nickname he earned in a later game for plowing through the opposing team. The Blue Team won that year and hasn't lost since. The next year, in 2019, on June 6 and July 4, two more games were played in the same small backyard as the first one had. The Blue Team prevailed in both games putting their all-time record to 3-0.
The one game played in 2020 was postponed nearly a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was finally played on August 14, 2020. The two sides had changed their team's names the day prior to the game. The Red Team became the "Warriors" and the Blue Team became the "Eyegougers".
A notable addition to the Warriors was Amelia Saam, becoming the first female Chuckfight player, even though she had played very small roles in previous games, opting in and out whenever she liked. But in the 2020 game, she stayed in the whole time.
In the last few seconds of the game, the Eyegougers stole the ball when the news was relayed that the game had ended, but the timer went off when the Warriors had the ball. The decision was to have a rematch the next day. But when the time came to play the rematch, it started raining, and the game had to be canceled. The official decision was that the Eyegougers had won the previous day. 2-5 games are scheduled to be played between August 8 and August 15.
Rules The rules to Chuckfight are very simple. A game starts when a ball is thrown up between the two team captains. Then, over two thirty-minute halves (or fifteen-minute quarters), the ball is fought over by the two teams, and whichever team has the ball when the game ends, wins.
A penalty is awarded if:
there is illegal contact to the face or groin if there is any fighting at halftime or during a timeout.
Other rules:
if a player is seriously injured, the game is over, and the team with the person that sustained the injury wins there used to be a rule that you could not tackle the player that had the ball, but this rule was broken so many times that it was discontinued.
Unofficial games and recent developments
In the late summer of 2018, the first unofficial match was played. But it didn't have enough players, and the rules were bent so that if you got the ball to the top of a slide, you got a point. If this was an official match, the Blue Team would have won. The Eyegougers beat the Warriors in an unofficial match in Fall 2020. The game was very short, and for that reason, it was classified as unofficial.
Also in the fall of 2020, the Eyegougers officially changed their name to the Pumas.
