History[edit]
Based in Waltham, Massachusetts, Cidewalk was founded by Venkat Kolluri in 2015 as a spin off of Westborough based, Chitika, Inc. which invested 4 million in funding the spinoff.[1] Chitika closed their business on April 17, 2019 of previous co-founders Venkat Kolluri and Alden DoRosario.
Cidewalk launched its flagship geofenced local mobile ads service in 2015 to help businesses reach new customers using location based tools [2] to help businesses reach new customers then in March, Chitika announced that Cidewalk would be partnering with Yahoo Small Business product suite to enable the purchasing of local mobile ads through the Yahoo SMB dashboard. [3] In 2020 Cidewalk expanded its core offerings to business text messaging services by launching Talkio [4] text messaging service for customer support and CRM.
