Claire Winter (03/21/95) is an American professional soccer player who plays in the National Womens Soccer League as an attacking midfielder/ forward. She has been on several professional teams which include the Gotham FC, Houston Dash, Puerto Rico Sol FC, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona and FC Arizona.

Winter has four younger siblings and is the daughter of Lisa and Kurt Winter. Both of her parents competed athletically in soccer and tennis at Cal Poly SLO. During her time at the University of California Los Angeles she became a household name both academically and athletically. Throughout her years as a student-athlete she was influential in the on-the-field performance and off-the-field culture. Her senior year Winter was voted Captain of the UCLA Womens Soccer team where she excelled as a teammate, leader and student.

After her career at UCLA, Winter went on to pursue her dream of being a professional soccer player. She has played for numerous professional teams including Gotham FC and Houston Dash. Her positive energy, work ethic and leadership skills all make Winter an exceptional teammate and athlete.

Winter grew up in Lafayette, California and attended Acalanes High School where she was a prominent member on the women’s soccer team. Whether it was in the classroom or the community she was known for her excellent teamwork skills and willingness to help others. Winter played high school soccer at Acalanes HS. She was the team captain of her Region IV team from 2008-13 as well as ODP State team captain from 2008-11. Other notable accolades were when Winter was the Blues Cup Tournament high scorer in 2010 and helped her club team Lamorinda Soccer Club become ranked #1 in Northern California. Which helped her to win the Nike Mustang Stamped, Schwan’s USA Cup and NorCal NPL during the 2012 fall season.

As a top ranked soccer player in the country Winter was a member of the USA National Youth Team and ODP. She was a member of the U14 and U15 teams and continued to participate on teams and in camps through U17 and U18.

Due to her high level of success in high school Winter ranked in the top 5 recruits amongst her peers in the state of California. In addition to this she was in the top 50 recruits nationwide. Throughout her recruiting process the University of California Los Angeles stuck out to her because of their top tier academics and athletics. Her recruiting class to the University of California Los Angeles was ranked 2nd in the nation in 2013.

Throughout her teenage years, Winter was part of the National Charity League from 2008-2013. During her time with the community Winter volunteered in multiple areas that impacted the community. Several of the areas in which the National Chairty League gives back to the community directly aligned with Winters passion for impacting the lives of youth and helping low-income communities.

Due to Winter’s love for helping the next generation she continually works to make the lives of children better. In her free times she works at COPA; a state-of-the-art facility in Walnut Creek CA. Where she runs children’s classes and assists with camps as the featured professional athlete. This has led her to mentor young high school athletes. Using her experiences to teach them what it takes to be a college and professional athlete.

Winter was not only a key role in the 2013 National Championship UCLA Womens Soccer team but she was an exceptional student and was a part of many extra circular activities on campus. Winters on the field accomplishments include, being a Co-Captain in 2017. Played in 54 games, had 27 starts, 3 goals, 1 assist and totaled 2356 minutes on the field as a holding midfielder.

In the classroom Winter excelled graduating on the Dean's List as well as Academic Honor roll. Due to her performance of the field, she was also a Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention for 3 straight years. In 2017 she graduated from UCLA with a degree in Sociology and minor in Film/Broadcasting.

Off the field and classroom Winter was influential in the UCLA community with her volunteer work and membership in the Alpha Phi Sorority. She was recognized for her work in a 30 for 30 Alpha Phi article. In this article they discuss the grit, perseverance and dedication it takes to be a collegiate athlete and that Winter did all this at an exceptional level.

Volunteering in the community and helping others is something that brings joy and happiness to Winter. Whenever the opportune arises Winter jumps at the chance to help others and get in the community. Some of the organizations she has dedicated her time to are the Special Olympics and serving low-income communities by offering clinics for underprivileged children.

During her time at UCLA, she toke advantage of the study abroad program, attending the International House Barcelona for 6 months while playing in Spain. During her time in the program, she studied the native language and their country's culture. After the program Winter has taken what she has learned and applied it to her daily life.

NJ/NY Gotham FC Aug 2020 – Jun 2021

Winter joined Gotham in the 2020 challenge cup series. During her time with the team, she was offered a replacement contract where she became a 2021 challenge cup series finalists and top midfielder in the Pre-season physical testing.

Puerto Rico Sol (PR League) 2019-2020

As team captain for the Puerto Rico Sol team, she was the leading scorer in the league, had 8 goals and 2 assists, logged a total of 540 minutes in 6 games and was a influential member of the team.

RCD Espanyol de Barcelona (Liga Iberdola) 2018-2019

As a a member of this team she logged a total of 8 games played, scoring 3 goals and 6 assists. During her time with the team, she created a positive culture while training with both the first and second time adding an immediate impact to the on the field product.

FC Arizona 2022

Winter took her talents on the field in 2022 to Arizona where she joined the FC Arizona team. She has been an influential member in the team's success as she has been a leader on and off the field. She can be seen in a picture below with the 2022 Women's FC Arizona team.
