Clark Hazlett (born January 4, 1997), also known online as Adventure Athlete, is an American YouTuber, country music singer, and football quarterback for the Tequileros de Jalisco of Fútbol Americano de México (FAM). He played college football at Linfield University. Hazlett is known for his videos of his life journey as a quarterback, country music singer, and songwriter.

Early life[edit]

Hazlett was born in Whatcom County, Washington to Scott and Elsie Hazlett. He attended Squalicum High School in Bellingham, Washington before transferring to Lynden High School in Lynden, Washington, for his senior year.[1] He passed for 3,645 yards, 31 passing touchdowns, and 14 rushing touchdowns during his career. He committed to Linfield University to play college football.

College career[edit]

Linfield[edit]

2015 season[edit]

As a true freshman, Hazlett spent most of the season at the J.V. level and saw time in one game.[2]

2016 season[edit]

Hazlett completed 9 of 13 passes for 118 yards and one touchdown.[2]

2017 season[edit]

Hazlett spent the entire season on the Linfield coaching staff due to torn labrum. This allowed Hazlett to start investing more time in social media.[2]

2018 season[edit]

Hazlett appeared in four games and completed 5 of 12 passes for 72 yards as a redshirt junior.[2]

2019 season[edit]

Hazlett appeared in six games and completed 18 of 24 passes for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran six times for 46 yards and one rushing touchdown. In a week 4 matchup against Puget Sound, he completed 5 of 5 passes for 92 yards and one passing touchdown, resulting in a 77-22 win.[2]

YouTube career[edit]

While injured in 2017, Hazlett started his YouTube channel named Adventure Athlete. The channel documents Hazlett's life as a football player. His videos ranged from showing viewers his training methods, game-day routines, football tips, and life as an overseas professional quarterback. Hazlett also has a second YouTube channel that focuses on his passion for country music. Hazlett has made two country music videos one called "Throwback" and "Back In My Hometown". His most popular video as of April 2022, eclipsing over 1.5 million views is the "What's A College Football Player Away Game Routine Like?" This attracted attention which led Hazlett to collaborate with other YouTubers such as Kirk Johnson a former Texas Longhorn, and Isaac Taylor-Stuart who is a rookie for the Dallas Cowboys and former USC Trojan.[citation needed]

Country music career[edit]

In 2017, Hazlett started to explore other things he was interested in during his time being injured that entire college football season. He found a passion for music and decided to start making music videos. In the summer heading into his senior year at Linfield, Hazlett started working on the demos for a song he had written called "Throwback." In the song, Hazlett honors his Lynden High School football coach, the late Curt Kramme, who lost his battle to cancer in 2017.[3]

In late 2020, Hazlett moved to Nashville, Tennessee to make a connection in the music industry.

Professional career[edit]

After Hazlett's last college football game he accepted the offer to play in Tours, France for the Pioneers of Touraine of the Fédération Française de Football Américain (FFFA). Hazlett was named the starting quarterback. This was Hazlett's first time starting a game in six years since high school. The season in France was cut short due to the pandemic struck. Shortly, Hazlett got an offer and sign a contract for T-Rex Sports Academy located in Timbó, Brazil. Hazlett's season in Brazil was canceled due to the pandemic which led him to return home to Lynden. After the season in Brazil, Hazlett moved to Nashville, Tennessee for three months to begin pursuing his country music career. However, Hazlett later moved to Cancún, Mexico living with an ex-professional football player Kasey Peters to keep chasing his football dream. Hazlett was invited to the training camp for the Tiburones Cancún of the American football league in Mexico (FAM). Once again the season was shuttered due to the pandemic. Meanwhile, Hazlett turns down offers from Germany, Poland, Finland, Austria, and Italy because of the high desire to play American football in Brazil, and Mexico. In early 2021, Hazlett was contacted several times by the GM of the Vysočina Gladiators in Jihlava, Czech Republic for the possibility to play.[4] In June 2021 he sign for Vysočina Gladiators of the Czech League of American Football (CLAF). Hazlett played quarterback for his team and also acted as offensive coordinator. Hazlett was immediately named as a starter and played 7 games including the Czech bowl.[5] Hazlett had a career game in the 2021 Czech Bowl, completing 9 of 13 passes for 100 yards and one passing touchdown. He also ran 14 times for 79 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns leading the Vysočina Gladiators to their first-ever national championship. During 2021 season with the Vysočina Gladiators, Hazlett appeared in 7 games with 1236 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, and 3 interceptions to go along with 411 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns without fumbling one single time.[6]

In 2022, Hazlett originally had signed to play in Fan Controlled Football (FCF), a football league based in Atlanta. However, Hazlett finally got the chance to play football in Mexico and was signed to play for the Tiburones Cancún.[7] Hazlett made his debut in Mexico on April 30, 2022, completing 11 of 18 passes for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 12-21 loss. In week 2, Hazlett set an official professional career high by completing 3 passing touchdowns in one quarter.[8] On June 4, 2022, Hazlett was traded to the Tequileros de Jalisco during week 6, according to the team's official Instagram post. Hazlett immediately was named as a starter and led the team to victory.

Personal life[edit]

Hazlett is the son of Scott and Elsie Hazlett. His sister, Kim Hazlett, plays soccer for the OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).[citation needed]
